In January 1945 the FCC made the controversial proposal to move all
the existing FM stations from the original 42-50 MHz band to a new
band from 84-102 MHz.  In June, the new band was changed to 88-108
MHz.

The following list shows assignments in the new band announced in
September 1945 for all existing FM stations.  Changes made later at
the suggestion of CBS and others are in parentheses.

Note that assignments were typically spaced 0.4 MHz apart in each
city.  This policy was continued when the complete allocations were
announced later in 1945, but such spacing is not allowed today.
